A direct replacement extreme duty Tie Rod and Drag Link assembly to replace your underperforming OE steering. Oversized tie rod and drag link ends, connected by massive DOM tubes, eliminates death wobble and tightens up steering under the most extreme conditions. Weak adjusting sleeves are replaced via tie rod and drag link ends threading directly into the connecting rods, secured by jam nuts and our proprietary ninja lock-washers.

For 2009-2013 trucks - select KIT180.

For 2003-2008 trucks, upgrade the 3rd Gen (Y Link) with these options:

1) Select KIT180 if you ALREADY have the pitman arm upgrade from 2009-2013 trucks.

2) Select KIT180P to INCLUDE the upgraded Mopar pitman arm from 2009-2013 trucks.

This upgrades the Y Link to a T Link system for dramatic steering improvement and improved tire life.

This will change the way your vehicle drives forever!

NOTES:

1) Your OE Steering Stabilizer Clamp will not fit this tie rod. Requires Steering Stabilizer Clamp DC154 (Standard) or DC151 (Fox) for mount in center tie rod, or other suitable 1.75" ID clamp.

2) Not compatible with Rough Country Dual Steering Stabilizer

3) Dodge note regarding dual stabilizers kits: Due to our oversized tie rod ends, modifications may need to be made to dual stabilizer kit, tie rod end brackets to fit.

4) 2013 Dodge Ram 3500's were a split year for production. The early model trucks use the T-style steering (drag link is attached to the Tie Rod). The late model trucks use cross over steering (Drag link is attached to the knuckle and does not attach to the Tie Rod). Please check what style you have before ordering.

WHAT IT FITS:

Dodge Ram 2500 (2003-2013) 4WD

Dodge Ram 3500 (2003-2013) 4WD

The Special Sauce:

HOUSING
  • SAE 1045 Solid Steel Forged Housing: This is unequivocally the best carbon alloy steel for this application.
  • CNC Machined Housing: Make our parts and bearings dimensionally perfect, eliminating any die wear issues.
BALL STUDS
  • SAE 4140 hot forged Chromoly Ball Studs: For the strongest possible metallurgy.
  • Induction Heat Treated Ball Studs: Provides a very precise heat treatment to the exact depth and location we want it.
  • Rolled Threads: Are made by pressing the shape of the threads into the ball stud instead of cutting. This strengthens the threads instead of weakening them and allows for easy movement of hardware. This ain't no Ikea furniture!
  • Step Threads: allows for very easy movement of hardware on install and superior holding when torqued (installer choice).
BEARING DESIGN
  • Rugged Metal to Metal Bearing
BOOTS
  • CR Rubber Boots: The most durable material for undercar applications. Resistant to deterioration from road level ozone, oil/gas/engine fluids and extreme heat or cold
  • Accordion Boot: Ideal for high-articulation components, more flexibility means longer life.
HARDWARE
  • Grade 8 - Class 10.9 Hardware: Superior tensile strength.
  • Castle Nut: Industry standard where high vibration loads occur.
ADJUSTING RODS
  • E-Coat Finish: Durable e-coat treatment
  • Tie Rod - 1.75" DOM SAE 1020 Tube: Heavy walled steel tubing provides the tightest most robust steering on the market
  • Drag Link - 1.75" DOM SAE 1020 Tube: Heavy walled steel tubing provides the tightest most robust steering on the market
LUBRICATION
  • Pre threaded Zerk Housing: If you have ever installed a MOOG Ball Joint without a pre-threaded zerk fitting you will understand what a simple but great feature this is. Another installer fav.
  • Greaseable: Because it should be.
  • Gull Winged Grease Grooves: Allows for improved lubrication disbursement around the ball stud.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Ninja Washers (tm): An APEX exclusive is our Ninja Washer which is a unique method of securing the lock nut to the tube, erasing the need for lightly built adjusting tubes with ugly pinch clamps. And who doesn't want a ninja on their front end.
  • Drag Link - Minimum Engagement Mark on Threads: If this mark in the thread of the drag link is showing it means you are beyond the safe engagement of threads into the adjusting sleeve. You may be lifted too high and need to switch to a flip kit or you may need to equal out the adjusting sleeve between the two ends.

Just got it on my truck today. It was easy to install and well built. Definitely buy an other one. But I will let you know in couple months how much I like it. Good product

Last tie rod and drag link components I will buy!

To say this product is heavy duty is an understatement. I was tired of replacing bushings every 30 to 40 thousand miles and still had bad steering input. By installing this steering kit it sure made the weak points of the front end of my truck come to light. First point was my steering box. Cheap rebuilt steering boxes only last about two years. So I bit the bullet and and went with a HD 6 bolt steering box. Wow! the whole front end started acting like a real truck. The turn in going into a corner was way better and more solid. No more jumping and twitching over freeway bumps. So naturally when my third set of Ball Joints go South, I will look to Apex for those also! I can't end this review without saying a word or two about the owners of this company. I had many questions and concerns after my installation. They took the time to give me the best advise on how to get a proper alignment. Most alignment shops don't know what to think of equipment like this on the front end of my truck, so getting them to torque it properly was another exercise in futility. Pretty sure no one else has 200 ft. lbs of torque on their lock nuts/adjusting bars!
Note: The photos below are taken just after installation and before alignment so the Ninja washers are not bent over!

Great Product, Easy install

Straight forward, quick install… Coupler for the steering damper is difficult to adjust once installed, but it’s a solid product

This kit is beefy

After searching for a heavy duty no nonsense steering kit for my ram 3500 that didn't have adjusting sleeves and used the standard rod ends that you would find from the local auto stores I discovered Apex... This kit is an absolute monster. The fact that you can adjust it on the truck with the spin of the tierod and drag link tube is a huge deal to me. Well done. This kit solves all the problems of the weak factory steering components with all the right stuff making for a simple install and solid steering feel. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an upgrade to the tiny soft underbuilt factory steering components. Give your heavy duty truck the heavy duty parts it deserves!
